Dear Ss. Colman-John Neumann School Families,
Happy New Year and I hope you had a joyous and restful Christmas season.
As I am sure you heard by now, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has announced the list of schools that will be closing or merging. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the many families impacted by these changes. Although we knew all along that SCJN was not at risk, it’s reassuring to learn that our parish and school community will remain a strong spiritual and educational foundation in our lives, and for generations to follow. We will warmly welcome any family who may wish to join our school community. We acknowledge that it’s through your generosity and that of our parishioners that we stand in a strong position to build upon our community of faith. We are blessed to have your trust, dedication, sacrifice of time and financial support.
Father McKeaney and countless dedicated members of our parish and school community have been working tirelessly to expand the physical infrastructure we so desperately need to continue our parish mission and to serve the needs of our community. Our new Parish Life Center, nursery school and gym are vital to our future.
There has been tremendous progress which you will finally witness as construction begins this spring. Father McKeaney just yesterday released the following schedule:
· Invite contractors to submit bids - January 11, 2012
· Contractor Bids Due – February 7, 2012
· Award contract – February 2012
· Begin Construction April 2012
· Utilities and School Construction – June through August 2012
· Construction Complete – March 2013
We are thrilled to finally see visible signs of the years of planning as well as a return on everyone’s huge effort in making this project a reality. While we remain $800,000 short of our campaign goal we are moving forward and asking for your prayers and continued support to help us quickly close the gap.
If you are in a position to pledge a gift in any amount (which can be paid over a period of up to 5 years), please contact Joy at the rectory at 610-525-3100 or me at the number below.
Thank you for making SCJN a wonderful place for our children and those yet to experience the quality and loving Catholic education we have come to value.
Regards,
David and Rosemary West
